The Pacific University Choral Project is a partnership between college students learning how to teach and school-aged students learning how to sing in group settings. Through this partnership, the preparation of choir teachers is improved while the number of young singers is increased, both positively affecting the quality of available educational opportunities in the community.

Elementary Choir - Please meet in the lobby of the Taylor-Meade Music Building at 4 p.m.

This class should be taken by students 1st through 4th grade. This class meets every Monday 4:00 - 4:50 pm. February 3-April 28, 2025. No class on March 24. Group concert on the last day of classes. Fee: $80

Mid-Level Choir - Please meet in the lobby of the Taylor-Meade Music Building at 4 p.m.

This class should be taken by students in 5th through 8th grade. This class meets every Monday from 4:00 - 4:50 pm, February 3-April 28, 2025. No class on March 24.  Group concert on the last day of classes. Fee: $80

Upper Level Choir - Please meet in the lobby of the Taylor-Meade Music Building at 5:40 p.m.

This class should be taken by students in 9th through 12th grade. This class meets every Monday from 5:45-6:35 pm, February 3-April 28, 2025. Students should meet in the lobby at 5:40. No class on March 24. Group concert on the last day of classes. Fee: $80

Our Mission Statement

The Pacific University Choir Project is dedicated to:

• Improving the quality of choir teachers’ preparation through integrated learning.
• Providing quality and affordable vocal and choral education to school-age students of all socio-economic and racial backgrounds.

For Our Students and Parents

Students in first through 12th grade learn how to explore and control their voices from our teachers-in-preparation and our master teacher. Students receive instruction in group classes and in individual lessons. Each meeting every week for 12 weeks will enable students to progress from a beginner to an intermediate and advanced vocalist. Each semester, students perform in two public performances here at Pacific University.

We offer numerous ways for our students to grow as musicians such as:

• Elementary Choir 
• Middle School Choir
• High School Choir
• Private lessons

For Our Teachers

The teachers in Choral Project are college students who are interested in learning to teach younger students how to sing. Student-teachers in Choral Project take pedagogy classes and meet regularly with the master teacher, who supervises and advises their weekly classes. They are actively involved in recruitment and communication with parents and they help plan public performances each semester. Students are paid for their preparation and teaching time, and they gain experience and develop their expertise in teaching music in learning environments that mimic public school choirs. The Choral Project at Pacific University is open to ALL students who are in one of Pacific University's choirs, regardless of major/minor.
