Pharmacy Degree Programs
The core program of the School of Pharmacy is a three-year doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) that prepares students for clinical careers in the pharmacy field. With an emphasis on teamwork, collaboration and clinical experience, the program prepares future doctors of pharmacy to serve patients as a member of a caring interprofessional healthcare team.
We have exciting news! Pacific University now offers an additional five-year PharmD pathway starting Fall 2023. Earn your doctor of pharmacy degree without sacrificing your career, family and mental well-being through our five-year PharmD pathway. For those interested in the research, academic and industry applications of pharmacy, the School of Pharmacy also offers a master of science in pharmaceutical sciences — which can be completed independently or in tandem with a PharmD degree. The MS in pharmaceutical science addresses the national need to train pharmacy clinicians in the craft or research.
The School of Pharmacy also offers pathways for undergraduate students to prepare for their doctoral studies, as well as post-graduate residencies for pharmacists to advance their experience and training in clinical practice and research.
Pharmacy Practice Experience
Experiential education is a critical part of the School of Pharmacy’s academic programs. We connect students with high quality experiential rotations that develop practice-ready, compassionate and innovative pharmacists prepared for future pharmacy careers.
We value the advancement of pharmacy practice and research globally. Our Office of Global Pharmacy Education and Research coordinates global programs for students, scholars and pharmacists to visit and collaborate with the School of Pharmacy, and we provide opportunities for our students to pursue international rotations as part of their experiential education.
Pharmacy Research
The Pacific University School of Pharmacy recognizes discovery as a fundamental tool in the education and training of future pharmacists. Our faculty and students conduct pharmaceutical research in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, drug target validation, toxicology, natural products, neuroscience and behavioral sciences, infectious diseases, and research in cancer and cardiovascular disease.

On Monday, June 17, 2024, Pacific University School of Pharmacy was presented with the Innovations in Administrative Practice Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Administrative Services Section during the virtual business meeting.
May 15, 2024 was a very busy day for the School of Pharmacy. Not only were the halls bustling with students as finals were finishing up, lockers getting cleaned out and graduating students did exit interviews, but we hosted the first in-person Advisory Board Meetings since the pandemic!
