The Office of Marketing & Communications tells Pacific University’s story.

Our primary role is managing the Pacific University brand, with a particular emphasis on student recruitment, alumni and donor relations, and community audiences.

We tell stories through the written word, video and photography, and we deliver those stories in publications, social media, and digital channels, including the Pacific University website, which we manage.

We are the first point of contact for external media, and we manage mass communications to our many constituent audiences.

We also are responsible for university-wide marketing and advertising design and placement.

Pacific University uplifts those who uplift others.

For more than 175 years, Pacific University has been at the center of its communities in Oregon. Founded as a school for orphans — “to receive all the children, rich and poor” — we always have, and always will, center belonging, care and opportunity. Our mission today is to inspire students to think, care, create, and pursue justice in the world.

We were the first college in Oregon to offer degrees in teaching, in optometry, occupational therapy, in physical therapy. The vast majority of our alumni work in education and healthcare, and we are the top private preparer of healthcare professionals in Oregon. We’re also the No. 1 private research university in the Pacific Northwest.

Pacific University Publications

Pacific Magazine

Pacific Magazine is our signature publication, telling the story of our alumni, students and friends as they live the Boxer Spirit in the world. We publish two print editions a year — each January and July — along with new online stories year-round.

Marketing & Communications also manages the university’s central social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube, and we provide guidance and support for Pacific units and groups managing their own social media presence.

Boxer E-News

Marketing & Communications facilitates internal announcements for current students and employees through weekly e-newsletters. All students and employees can publish announcements for these channels and submit events for the university-wide calendar. 

Digital Engagement

Marketing & Communications engages a wide variety of audiences through digital channels. We are responsible for the university’s website, for mass emails to internal and external audiences, and for online advertising (as well as other university advertising channels).
