Doctor of Science Program Offers Fully-Online Degrees in Healthcare Science or Medical Science

There is still time to apply for the Pacific Doctor of Science (DHSc/DMSc) program for the next cohort of students which starts in January 2024! The Doctor of Science (DHSc/DMSc) program is unique in that it offers two innovative clinical doctoral degree programs — the Doctor of Healthcare Science (DHSc) and the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc).

What is the difference between the two degrees?

Doctor of Healthcare Science (DHSc)
The DHSc degree is for the allied health professional (certified/licensed), advanced practice clinician, health profession educator, healthcare administrator/manager or public health professional who has the desire to continue their education as a means of advancing their career within diverse healthcare settings. The 36-credit curriculum for the DHSc degree is presented asynchronously on the Moodle® learning management system. The program is four semesters in length.

Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc)
T
he DMSc degree is specifically for the physician assistant who is certified and actively practicing. All physician assistants who complete the Doctor of Science program will earn a DMSc degree. The online DMSc program follows the same 36-credit curriculum as the DHSc program and is also presented asynchronously on the Moodle® learning management system. The program is four semesters in length.

The application window is currently open for the cohort that will start in January 2024 and Pacific employees are eligible to apply for an Employee Graduate Tuition Assistance Grant to help with the cost of the program.

Please visit the Doctor of Science (DHSc/DMSc) program webpage for more information.  If you have any questions about the program, please contact Amber Vanzant, the program administrator for the School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership.

The application deadline for the Spring 2024 cohort is Dec. 1.
