Become a music therapist at Pacific University!
Pacific offers Oregon’s only music therapy program. Our five-year course of study includes a year-long internship with a board certified professional and prepares students to sit for national certification as a music therapist.
Develop your own musical proficiencies and study psychology, neuroscience, anatomy, and healthcare practice as you learn to use musical interventions to help people improve their quality of life.
Music therapists work in schools, healthcare settings, rehabilitation facilities and more, serving people of all ages in their journey to health and wellbeing.
Top Music School
Pacific’s Music Department is one of the strongest in the Northwest.
Music therapy students take courses in voice, piano, guitar and percussion, and they are invited to participate in Pacific’s many musical ensembles, from strings and band to choir.
They enjoy performing in Pacific’s nationally ranked performance venue, Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center, and make use of recently expanded practice facilities, a piano lab and a MIDI lab. Our extensive music library in the Tran Library features an extensive collection books, scores, recordings and DVDs.
High-Ranked University in the Pacific Northwest
U.S. News & World Report calls Pacific one of the best colleges in the country, as well as a Best Value School.
Students enjoy living and learning in the Pacific Northwest, just a quick trip away from downtown Portland, the Cascade Mountains, or the Oregon Coast.
They build close relationships with faculty members, who put teaching first and serve as mentors. Students also benefit from the well-rounded liberal arts curriculum, gaining hands-on experience, engaging in volunteerism and activism, and becoming critical thinkers and community leaders.
Merit & Need Scholarships
About 99 percent of all Pacific undergraduates receive financial aid to attend college. We offer need- and merit-based scholarships. Get started just by showing up: High school seniors who attend a virtual Senior Preview Scholarship Day this fall and complete an online activity can earn up to $4,000 ($1,000 per year for four years) in scholarships!
