Key

* Large ensemble appropriate to instrument/voice: MUS 150, 163 or 165. Audition may be required.  Note-beginning in 2015 music majors and minors are not required to take ensembles for credit. However, they must register for the ensemble (even if for 0 credits) to be in compliance with degree requirements.  Students who intend to graduate with a music degree must take 8 semesters of an ensemble, but it can be taken for 0 credit or 1 credit at the students' discretion.

**All sections and levels of Applied Music require the signature of the Music Department Chair for registration.

†For vocal performance majors, MUS 326 Song Literature is the appropriate music history course. MUS 428 Music for the Stage is a suggested upper division music elective.

+ May be waived by departmental proficiency examination.

To fulfill elective requirements outside of music, majors are encouraged to select an academic minor. Vocal performance majors should consider courses in World Languages, Theater and Dance as useful coursework to accompany the Vocal Performance Emphasis degree.
