Music Performance Facilities
At Pacific University, students benefit from exceptional music performance and practice facilities.
Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center
The Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center is Pacific University's nationally-ranked performance venue. McCready Hall, the performance hall within Taylor-Meade, seats is a 400-seat recital hall designed for music performances. The hall has state-of-the-art acoustics. The building encompasses extensive PA and recording installation as well as headphone and speaker monitoring. The Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center also houses the Music Department.
Music students have the facilities they need to be successful. There are nine Practice Rooms within Taylor-Meade, eight with pianos, to accommodate any musical situation. One room is dedicated solely to percussion.
The Piano Lab includes 14 Kawai electronic units with full interactive capability, as well as an instructor's unit. The MIDI Lab is a Macintosh-based system using Ensoniq, Roland, Alesis, Opcode, Mackie, and JBL hardware. Software includes Performer, Finale, and Band-In-A-Box.
Other facilities within Taylor-Meade include classrooms, rehearsal space, ensemble libraries (vocal, chamber, and full instrumental), student locks, percussion room, instrument storage room, student lounge and faculty offices.
Other Music Facilities
The following facilities are also available for use by music students.
Burlingham Rehearsal Room is designed to duplicate the recital hall stage in size and acoustics. This space can be used to accommodate myriad rehearsal strategies.
Pacific's Music Library, intended for listening to and studying music, is located within the Tran Library. It features an extensive collection of reference books, scores, recordings, and DVDs. As a part of the main library, the music library provides access to state-of-the-art technology, including wireless internet, interactive study rooms with plasma screen monitors, and fully-equipped listening stations.
