A 29-year career culminating in the Office of the Surgeon General started with optometry school at Pacific. “Pacific was, and still is, a small school where, instead of being a number, you can become an individual," said Col. John Pyle OD '64. "I had a really good time there.”
Ralph Watkins '08 is a free spirit. Most recently, his wandering feet and Pacific University teaching degree took him to Shishmaref, Alaska, where he's principal of a small preK-12 school.
Melissa Lowery '09 created a feature-length documentary, "Black Girl in Suburbia," about the experience of growing up Black in suburban Oregon. She continues the conversation, working in Portland-area high schools.
