The Morris K. Udall Scholarship

Named after House Representative Morris K. Udall who served in Congress for thirty years and was a champion of the environment, the welfare of Native Americans, the Udall Scholarship provides financial support to students pursuing degrees in fields related to natural resource protection, conservation, and Native American policy, health, and governance.

Programs Funded

The scholarship provides up to $5,000 for tuition, room, board, and other educational expenses. Recipients also take part in a four-day Udall Scholarships Orientation program in Tucson, Arizona with other scholars, elected officials, as well as leaders in the Native American community and field of environmental advocacy and stewardship. In addition, the Udall Scholarship links students with a wide-ranging network of professionals in public policy, the environment, and Native American affairs.

Eligibility

Sophomore or Junior-level academic standing with a commitment to a career related to the environment or tribal public policy or Native American health care.

Selection Criteria

A demonstrated commitment to the environment and natural resources, tribal public policy, or Native American health issues A demonstrated record of initiative, leadership, and problem-solving Grade point average of at least a “B” U.S. citizenship, U.S. national or permanent resident

Application Process

Students must submit all application materials to the Pacific Faculty Representative (see Scholarship Coach listed below), including the Udall Scholarship Application, 800-word essay, official undergraduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. Students may not apply independently.
