The Pacific University Symphonic Band’s spring concert will take place on Saturday, April 26 at 7:30pm in McCready Hall, and will feature both the Pacific University band and the award-winning Oregon Symphonic Band. The performance will be Dr. Burch-Pesses’ final concert before retiring after 30 years of teaching at Pacific. The program will include recent compositions such as “Beginnings” by Adam Schoenberg, and “Stride” by Kevin Day. Alfred Reed’s famous “Armenian Dances, Part 1” is on the program, as is the Finale to Antonin Dvorak’s “New World Symphony.” The band will also perform the world premiere of a work by Canadian composer Robert Buckley, written in honor of Dr. Burch-Pesses’ 30-year career at Pacific University.
