Pacific University and the Politics & Government Department present "Risky Business: Sports Mega-events, Tourism, and The Road to Conviviality", a lecture by Christopher Gaffney. 

Gaffney is a clinical associate professor at New York University’s Tisch Center for Hospitality in the School of Professional Studies where he directs the Travel and Tourism Research Collaboratory. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, he has taught in Brazil, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United States.

He is the author of Temples of the Earthbound Gods (University of Texas Press), which examines urban development and sporting cultures in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. He is also a director at ALTR.earth, a nonprofit consultancy that works with municipalities, hospitality enterprises, and civil society on long-term planning and integrated systems design.
