Pacific University Department of Music is thrilled to announce this year's Holiday Concert, which will showcase performances by the Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, Vera Voce, and Splendid Audacity. This event promises to bring joyful, heartwarming music to fill the air with holiday cheer and a festive spirit.
Join us on Saturday, December 7 at 7:30 PM at McCready Hall in the Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center, where these musicians will present an eclectic repertoire from classic carols to modern seasonal tunes, all designed to celebrate the magic and warmth of the season.
Included in the program, Chamber Singers will be performing Sofia Söderbeg's "Noël nouvelet," a beautifully rich French carol, Javier Busto's "Hodie Christus Natus Est," and Elaine Hagenberg's "Alleluia." Concert Choir will present John Leavitt's "Festival Sanctus," Eric Whitacre's "Glow," and Ralph Vaughan Williams' classic carol, "Gloucestershire Wassail." Both ensembles will also perform the Yoruban carol, "Betelehemu" in collaboration with several percussionists.
Following the choirs, Pacific’s Symphonic Band will delight you with the ever-popular "Sleigh Ride" and playful "Minor Alterations," a medley of Christmas favorites all in a minor key! You will also hear a heartfelt rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear."
To wrap up this wonderful evening, we invite everyone to join in a festive sing-along of holiday favorites with, “It’s Christmas.” This concert is a perfect way to bring in the holiday season-come prepared to be uplifted and filled with seasonal cheer!
