The Pacific University Forensics Team is pleased to host the annual Hap Hingston Forensics Invitational speech and debate tournament on Saturday, January 11, 2025 through Sunday, January 12, 2025 on the Forest Grove, OR campus. Tournament operations will be on the main floor of the University Center.
Our event is named after A.C. “Hap” Hingston. Hap was a faculty member at Pacific University from 1942–1973 and continued serving on Pacific’s Board of Trustees until 1983. He also served as chairperson of the department of communication and the director of forensics for many years. We are proud to have our tournament named after Hap Hingston.
We anticipate many local high schools will attend the event this year, bringing about 100-200 guests to campus. Please anticipate heavy traffic in the U.C. and numerous occupied classrooms on both Saturday and Sunday.
The tournament will need judges during the weekend. Previous experience in speech and debate is not required to judge at this event! If you wish to help judge, please register here by January 7, 2024.
If you have any questions about the competition, feel free to contact Daniel Broyles or Jennifer Conner.
