Pacific University alumni writers are invited to gather virtually for an afternoon of creativity, critique and conversation! Whether you are a published author or a hobbyist looking to make new connections, everyone and all genres are welcome to come together for learning and camaraderie with your fellow alumni writers.
For this month's writers group, we are excited to share that crime fiction author, David Hagerty MFA '13, will be joining to guest facilitate a writing exercise during the event!
We will begin our gathering with introductions. Following that conversation, we will do a short writing exercise to get everyone’s creativity flowing. Please come prepared with your favorite journal and a pen or be prepared to multitask on your computer.
In the next section of our meeting, the conversation will be opened up to anyone who is currently stuck with something in their writing. Whether it is adding unique characteristics to a character, struggles with a plot, or thoughts of fantasy world development, this group is here for you.
To wrap up our time together, we will break out into small groups to critique and provide feedback on the pieces that were submitted in advance. Please come prepared with feedback that provides an analysis of the voice, structure, characters, etc.
Before the meeting, you can submit your work (five pages or less) for the group to review. Submissions will close one week before the meeting on Thursday, January 16.
There is no charge for participation in this virtual event, but advance registration is required. You will receive the Zoom meeting link by email prior to the event.
