Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an online interview with one or more Athletic Training Admissions Committee members. Please contact Andrea Lybarger at PT.AT@pacificu.edu with any questions regarding the application process.

How to Apply

Apply through ATCAS - https://atcas.liaisoncas.com

Official College and University Transcripts

Official transcripts from every institution you have attended should be submitted directly to ATCAS following the instructions provided in the application.

Clinical Experience

It is recommended that you have 50 hours of work, volunteer, or observation experience completed at the time you submit your application. These hours should be completed under the supervision of a current practicing certified athletic trainer (registered or licensed, depending on individual state requirements). The Admissions Committee encourages seeking volunteer or observation experience in a variety of settings. For example, certified athletic trainers may be employed in high schools, in colleges or universities, by professional teams, in hospitals or clinics, by performing arts groups, by the military, or in occupational/industrial settings.

Essays

All applicants are required to submit the ATCAS personal statement. Additionally, applicants must complete the Pacific University program-specific required supplemental essay in approximately 500 words.

Letter of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation must be submitted directly to ATCAS. It is preferred that at least one recommendation is from a certified athletic trainer with whom you have worked, volunteered, or observed. If possible, the second letter of recommendation should be from an athletic trainer, college faculty member, or employer. Both letters of recommendation must be received before your ATCAS application can be verified. We recommend requesting your letter of recommendation early to avoid delays.

Virtual Interview

After an initial application review by the Admissions Committee, selected applicants will be invited to participate in a virtual interview with the Athletic Training Admissions Committee. The interview is required and is a contributing factor in the admission decision. Consideration is given to candidates’ knowledge of the profession, motivation toward a career as an athletic trainer, ability to think clearly and logically, self-confidence, and verbal expression of ideas.

English Language Proficiency Requirement

A satisfactory command of the English language is required for admission to the athletic training program. All students whose first language is not English must meet the English language proficiency requirement before starting the program if admitted. This requirement applies to all applicants, including resident aliens and citizens. Requiring valid proof of English language proficiency is an admissions requirement of the athletic training program; thus, only the program can approve exceptions.

Valid Proof of English Language Proficiency

  • Achieving the minimum required official score on the International Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Pacific Institutional TOEFL, or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam
  • Test scores are valid for two (2) years after the test date
  • Test scores more than two (2) years old will be considered if the score exceeded the minimum requirement and you have maintained continuous residency in a country where English is the official primary language since the exam date
  • Completion of a bachelor's, master, doctoral, or professional degree at a regionally accredited college or university where English is the primary language of instruction. Individuals who are in the process of earning a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution where English is the primary language of instruction can be admitted.
