Recruiting Staff for Involvement in Standing Committees
Body

Staff members, consider getting involved in Pacific’s shared governance as a staff representative on either the University Diversity, Finance, or Honors & Awards Committees.

The staff representative positions are for a three-year term starting in September. If you have additional questions after reading the information below, please reach out to the Executive Assistant to the Provost Maegan Jossy.

Are you interested in collaborating with employees from across the university and learning about other areas at Pacific? Any non-faculty employee is eligible to be nominated for the staff representative position on these three committees:

  • University Diversity Committee
Works to advance the university’s goal of achieving diversity in enrollment and the composition of faculty and staff. The committee advises the University Council on matters related to equity and diversity to advance the university’s mission and vision.

  • University Finance Committee
Reviews and discusses the university’s financial operations to help facilitate communication within the university community as it pertains to employee benefits, the budget, and financial aid. Staff members have valuable insights and contributions that are uniquely sought out.

  • University Honors and Awards Committee
Responsible for recommending individuals for honorary awards to the president. If you would like to get involved in the annual recognition of employees consider serving on this committee. Eligibility requirements include that the staff member is benefits-eligible and have been employed for a minimum of three years at Pacific.

The time commitment varies by committee but is generally 2-3 hours per month. Committees generally meet monthly from September to May. Consider nominating yourself or a colleague.

Email staffsenate@pacificu.edu to make a nomination by Friday, March 21. Nominees for standing committees will be selected by the Staff Senate.
