"The 39 Steps," "Spring Dance Works" Headline Theatre, Dance Schedule

Pacific University’s spring 2025 theatre and dance schedule includes the production of an Alfred Hitchcock mystery and a pair of dance performances showing the university’s talent.

The theatre program’s spring production will be Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, based on the novel by John Buchan and adapted by Patrick Barlow. Performances are scheduled for March 13-16.

The dance program will present its Spring Dance Works Concert with three performances from April 24-26. The event features a pair of senior capstones and performances by the Pacific Dance Ensemble, the university’s preprofessional dance company. The season concludes with the Choreographers Informal on Friday, May 5.

All performances are open to the community and take place in the Tom Miles Theatre in Warner Hall on Pacific University’s Forest Grove Campus.

Mix an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. Following a mysterious murder, ordinary Richard Hannay launches on a high-speed chase from a London music hall to Scotland’s highlands, where he must dodge devious spies, woo beautiful bombshells, and attempt to reveal the secrets of an international spy ring.

Tickets are free for Pacific students and $5 for the general public. Tickets will be available for purchase soon.

April 24-26 | Spring Dance Works
April 24 & 25 at 7:30 p.m., April 26 at 2 p.m.
Pacific University dance celebrates the spring with its annual Spring Dance Works Concert. This year, the program features two senior dance majors presenting their capstone projects in research, choreography and dance film, along with the program featuring students and faculty choreography. The concert features Pacific’s preprofessional Pacific Dance Ensemble, founded in 2004.

Tickets are $5 for Pacific students, faculty and staff, and $8 for the general public. Tickets will be available for purchase soon.

Friday, May 2 | Choreographers Informal, 6 p.m.
Pacific University dance celebrates the work of its students at this end-of-the-year informal performance. The Choreographers Informal offers students and faculty the opportunity to highlight and present the incredible creative work developed over the last year, with presentations from the university’s dance classes, including the choreography and dance technique classes, and a guest performance by Unified Dance. Admission to this performance is free.
