About the College of Business
Message from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Business. I would like to thank you for your interest in the College and learning more about our academic programs, community engagement, faculty research, and student success. Our outstanding team of dedicated and diverse faculty and staff are committed to providing our students with the finest educational experience and best possible placement opportunities.
Our undergraduate program is located on our beautiful campus in Forest Grove, and our MBA program is housed in Hillsboro, where we continue to develop our University’s interdisciplinary professional campus (including Health Professions). As the only MBA program in Washington County, we are proud of our connections to local business in a fast-growing industrial area. In an era where higher education is becoming increasingly difficult for many to obtain, we are proud to offer outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs that are within reach for qualified students. We have established specialized advising support, scholarships, and programming for transfer students that allows for a smooth transition from other institutions, including community colleges.
The College of Business’ mission statement is “To foster a student-centered learning community that equips students with the skills to serve as principled leaders in a dynamic global environment.” Career readiness is at the heart of our business programs. We strive to deliver industry-aligned courses that prepare our students for successful careers. We integrate ethics-based principles into each course to foster a high standard of ethics in our students.
As a newer business college, we have a progressive curriculum and are ideally positioned for strong corporate partnerships. Our students have opportunities to work with many local and national employers and accounting firms; we have our own placement office and a well-connected alumni network in major regional and national companies. Students can also participate in our internship program and gain experience first-hand through a variety of opportunities that are integrated into the College of Business curriculum.
We continue to push boundaries in education – exploring new and innovative approaches to teaching, different kinds of content creation, and new models of active learning in our classrooms. As a young college, we can offer many more intimate opportunities for students to meet and thrive. We have manageable class sizes; our professors are genuinely committed and dynamic, and we continue to bring in outside speakers and class projects centered on real-world experience. All this helps creates distinctive hands-on, invaluable education in a wonderful and truly compassionate campus setting.
I invite you to learn more about our distinctive approach to business education and learning at Pacific University’s College of Business. Most of all, I invite you to learn how we can help you reach your goals.
Best Regards,
Jennifer Yruegas
