The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the Portland Metro Area, including Pacific University's Forest Grove Campus. Please use caution especially particularly on the south half of the Forest Grove Campus. Avoid trees, and watch and listen for falling branches.

The Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission’s requirements for college and university operations require that universities close their campuses in order to create healthier learning, working and living spaces for students and employees. Pacific buildings are open to students and employees only. Community members are encouraged to limit time on campus grounds and are required to wear masks on university property.

Football, soccer, rowing and volleyball will be postponed. Cross country, golf and tennis will be permitted to play this fall. “We are committed to supporting our student-athletes and their experience through these challenging times,” said Pacific University Athletic Director Keith Buckley. “Our coaches and staff continue to work diligently in developing a plan to provide our student-athletes a safe and valuable experience both this fall, as well as into the winter/spring competition schedules.”

Please join me and Pacific University in honoring Juneteenth on Friday, June 19. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the day, in 1865, that the last slaves in America were legally freed from bondage, two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. To our knowledge, Pacific has not publicly acknowledged this day previously. We are working to do better, and we invite you to continue the dialogue with us.
