Under the direction of Pacific University Athletic Training faculty member Dr. Jess Moore, the students of the Athletic Training Program participated with special educators and physical therapists as part of an interprofessional medical staff at the 2019 Special Olympics Youth Games on the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Oregon.
On the night before graduation, the MSAT class of 2019 and their families gathered together to honor the students for all of their accomplishments.
In June, many current and former students from Pacific University's Athletic Training Program gathered together during the 2019 NATA National Conference in Las Vegas.
For the second year in a row, School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training students volunteered for Community Action, a non-profit organization that assists residents of Washington County in need. During their annual benefit, Kaleidoscope, our students assisted by registering guests and processing gifts.
Seventeen first-year PT students volunteered with AT students, PA students, and AT program alumni at a Special Olympics Oregon (SOOR) Unified Champion Schools (UCS) High School Basketball North Regional Tournament.
Current 2nd year athletic training students – Lauren Garcia (’19), Daisha Acorda (’19), Bri Dixon (’19), Kerry Dill (’19) and Samantha Boulanger (’19), were a part of the team that provided medical coverage for the 2019 Nike Hoop Summit. The event was over 3 days, and included future collegiate and NBA players.
Current Athletic Training faculty members, Drs. Bates and Cook presented their research findings as a part of the NWATA Free Communications presentation during the 2019 NWATA District Conference in April. Dr. Jessica Moore was also an invited speaker at the conference.
During the 2019 NWATA District 10 Conference in Spokane, Washington, Megan Sarles, (’20) and Emry Wells (’20) gave oral presentations during the student forum.
Dr. Dana Bates collaborated with Brent Norris MPAS, PA-C , in the planning and implementation of the SIM-Man into the testing for the General Medical Course.
