A summer literacy camp put on by faculty and students in the College of Education's School of Communication Sciences & Disorders and School of Learning & Teaching provided rich — and fun — literacy activities for local children.

Doug Keller MAT ’14 was inspired to military service by his father’s dramatic rescue from an Indonesian concentration camp in World War II. After a military career, he turned to Pacific for a second career as a teacher. But soon after graduation, he suffered a near-fatal bike injury. His tenacious spirit, however, keeps driving him forward.
The camp began June 27, runs from 9 to noon Tuesday through Friday, and will conclude on Friday, July 22 with a special graduation and party.
As an education major and Japanese minor, Diane Lebowitz '16 has enjoyed making connections with fellow students and local youth with a variety of language and cultural backgrounds through Pacific.
Elona Wilson '18 explored a lot of options before settling on early childhood education. "Pacific has so many different opportunities," she said.
