Tim Rusk
Tim Rusk is the Nonprofit Education Specialist at the Nonprofit Association of Oregon (NAO), where he conducts trainings on various topics relevant to nonprofit organizations.
Before joining NAO, Tim served as the executive director of MountainStar Family Relief Nursery, an early childhood program in Bend, Oregon, for nearly 20 years. Under his leadership, the organization grew from its inception to a highly respected tri-county program, delivering trauma-informed early childhood and family support services to over 5,000 children and their families. He managed a staff of 32, led a five-person leadership team, and oversaw a $2.2 million budget, which included $820,000 from individual and business contributions and $200,000 in private foundation grants. Tim also played a key role in guiding the organization through a smooth leadership transition upon his departure.
Additionally, Tim spent 10 years as program director for an environmental stewardship and work training program in the California Bay Area. He holds a Master's in Organization Development from Sonoma State University and a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Passionate about nonprofit best practices—particularly in leadership, finance, governance, fundraising, and organizational development—Tim is excited to join the team at the University of the Pacific and lead the NL 504 winter colloquium.
