Katy Mawson, AuD
Katy Mawson was raised in Nevada, but always loved the Pacific Northwest. When choosing her first post-grad job, she knew that the Portland area was where she wanted to be. In private practice since 2018, Katy has dedicated her time to treating each patient with gold-standard care and evidence-based practice.
In May 2014, Katy graduated with honors from the University of Nevada, Reno with her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology. She completed her Doctorate of Audiology degree at Idaho State University in 2018. Katy maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the America Speech-Language and Hearing Association. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Katy’s passion for audiology and her patients extends to her free time, where she volunteers and serves as the President for the Oregon Academy of Audiology. She loves engaging her patients and their families in her treatment plans and she is passionate about serving her community.
The most popular question she receives is “what made you choose audiology?” And to that, she will tell you about her oldest nephew, who was born with a congenital hearing loss. Katy herself wears hearing aids, which helps her empathize with her patients and engage in creative problem solving when issues come up.
In her free time, she volunteers, enjoys reading and baking, and cares for a wide variety of house plants that she began collecting during the pandemic lockdown. She loves sharing her experiences with her patients and connecting with them on a deeper level to ensure excellent hearing healthcare outcomes.
