John P. Lowery, OD, MEd, FAAO

Dr. Lowery is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry, where he also completed a teaching/clinical fellowship and earned a Master's of Education. In 1994, he joined a private practice in Silverton, Ore., specializing in pediatrics and rehabilitation. He has also served as director of the Oregon Lions Statewide Low Vision Clinic since 1995 providing educationally oriented low vision evaluations for visually impaired children. He joined the faculty at Pacific University in 1998 where he has taught courses in human development, clinical procedures, public health, pediatrics, low vision and vision-related learning disorders.

Dr. Lowery is a faculty advisor for the Amigos (Student VOSH) and has led many eye care mission to underserved populations all over the world.

Dr. Lowery is currently a professor and Chief of Pediatrics for Pacific University EyeClinics. His research interests include pediatric procedures, pediatric visual impairments, children with special needs and humanitarian vision care.

When not engaged in professional activities, Dr. Lowery enjoys photography, astronomy and outdoor activities with his wife and three boys.
