Dr. Chen is an Associate Professor of Finance at Pacific University, known for his dedication to teaching and research in accounting, economics, and finance. Since 2012, he has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses at four institutions, earning continuous recognition for his teaching excellence. His honors include the Price Finance Teaching Excellence Award at the University of Oklahoma (2013), the President’s Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching at Pacific University (2023), and the College of Business Outstanding Educator of the Year (2024). His consistently high teaching evaluations reflect his commitment to student engagement, intellectual growth, and practical applications in finance.

Dr. Chen’s research contributions span Corporate Finance, Market Microstructure, and Energy Economics, with a strong publication record in leading journals such as the Journal of Financial ResearchEnergy EconomicsPacific-Basin Finance Journal, and the Journal of Economics and Business, where his paper on mergers and acquisitions won the Best Paper Prize in 2020. His work has also been honored with a best conference paper award and two semifinalist recognitions, demonstrating his impact within the academic community. Dr. Chen frequently presents his research at prominent conferences, including the European Finance Association and Financial Management Association, highlighting the international reach of his scholarship. His sustained contributions to research have been further recognized by Pacific University through Faculty Development Grants (2019) and the Story-Dondero Professional Research Grants (2020, 2021, and 2024).
