Catherine Kim is a linguist and has a PhD in Linguistics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  She has taught at Princeton University and at the Ohio State University before moving to Pacific Northwest. Her area of specialty is second-language acquisition and bilingualism.  She has extensive experience in research and teaching in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, and is currently the President of ORTESOL (Oregon Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages).  Her current research areas are bilingual and biliteracy development and maintenance of second language learners and ESL teacher education. She is also the project director and principal investigator of the federally-funded grant program (NPD: National Professional Development Program funded by OELA, US Department of Education Grant no T365Z120107), which includes TESOL education and professional development for grades 6-12 STEM teachers.
