Budget Update 2022

In March 2022, the Pacific University Board of Trustees approved a balanced 2022-2023 budget for the university. CARES funds, which have provided significant budget relief over the past two years, are not anticipated for FY 2022-2023. Each area of the university worked collaboratively to balance the budget which includes a modest increase to employee salaries. Some, but not all, essential requests were funded. Identified risks to the budget include potential enrollment shortfalls and the impact of recent cohorts of smaller size. Read more

Budget Update 2021

In March 2021, the Pacific University Board of Trustees approved a balanced 2021-2022 budget for the university. CARES funds to the university, with half required to be distributed to students, provided funding for many COVID related expenses and eliminated the need to rebalance the budget in the fall in response to changes in enrollment and housing. The budget included a modest increase to employee salaries and no changes to healthcare benefits. Possible mitigation strategies were identified in anticipation of unexpected COVID impacts to the budget. Read more

Budget Update 2020

In March 2020, the Pacific University Board of Trustees approved a balanced 2020-2021 budget for the university. It immediately became outdated due to the COVID-19 shutdown. While we typically rebalance the budget each fall to account for changes in enrollment and housing, the summer of 2020 was spent adjusting to what was initially estimated as a $6 million shortage and later adjusted to an estimated $10 million shortage. All colleges and departments developed plans to help meet that shortage. A newly balanced budget was approved by the Board of Trustees at their September 2020 meeting. Though the COVID-19 pandemic created significant challenges, Pacific remains financially sound.

Budget Update 2019

In March 2019, the Pacific University Board of Trustees approved a balanced 2019-2020 budget for the university. The budget reflects Pacific's commitment to continuing to evolve and innovate as the nature of higher education and the careers available for our students change over time. Included in the budget is an investment in new and changing programs, like data science and music education and a modest increase to employee salaries, as well as a changes to the employee health insurance program that saved both the university and individuals considerable money. Read More

Budget Update 2018

In March 2018, the Board of Trustees approved a balanced 2018-2019 budget after months of diligent work and creative problem-solving. The budget was built with very conservative enrollment targets in an effort to "right-size" enrollment goals. Steep increases in employee health insurance premiums were a particular challenge in this year. Every area of the university made significant adjustments to present a balanced budget that built toward a more sustainable future. Read More

Budget Forum 2017

President Lesley Hallick presented Pacific University’s draft 2017-2018 budget at an open forum on March 2, 2017. The budget, which was ultimately approved by the Board of Trustees, reflects an overall increase of about 3 percent in university-wide revenue and expenditures. The 2017-2018 budget reflects the university’s foray into three-year budgeting, which will help with long-term planning and stability throughout the university’s growing programs. Budget Forum 2016

On March 31, 2016, Pacific University President Lesley Hallick hosted a budget forum to discuss the university's 2016-2017 budget with members of the Boxer community. Among the highlights she shared: The 2016-2017 budget includes the smallest tuition increase in at least 15 years, while supporting innovation opportunities and addressing salary comparability for staff as part of an ongoing adjustment for all employees. Budget Forum 2015

The 2015 open budget forum for faculty and staff was held on April 2. President Lesley Hallick shared this presentation during a 90 minute session, which was available for viewing and participating at multiple campuses and locations. The forum included questions from the audience and the President's Cabinet was on stage to assist with responses to questions posed.
