Outside the Classroom

Dr. Johnson has spent over a decade working as a public health professional in Oregon’s health workforce development sector with OHWI, one of the five regional centers of the Oregon Area Health Education Center (AHEC) system. Growing up in a rural Midwestern town, he has first-hand experience of the strengths and challenges of being a first-generation college student facing the rigors of health professions education. His work with AHEC has focused on providing educational experiences that promote a more representative health workforce that is well-prepared to provide high-quality services.
