Summer Energy Saving Tips

Below are some energy saving tips that you can use in the office and or at home during the next few months:

  • Adjust your thermostat to 75 so your AC does not work as hard.
  • Open up windows during the cooler parts of the morning and evening.
  • Use fans to cool off when you can rather than air conditioning.
  • Close your blinds during the warmer parts of the day.
  • Turn off lights and unplug devices when you are not using them. (They draw some power even when they are turned off).
  • Avoid using the oven - it's a good time to use the grill or microwave.
  • Take cooler and shorter showers.

Our team would also like to share our accomplishments from the past year; you can find this information in our 23-24 impact report. These savings are only on the buildings we have enrolled in the Strategic Energy Management program, but we are using the same practices in all of our buildings which means we are making a difference campus wide. Thank you to those that have helped us in our energy savings efforts. Every little bit helps.

Thank you, Cindy Schuppert on behalf of your energy team.
