Mandatory Annual Fire Alarm Testing Continues

It is that time of year to test the fire alarm, smoke detectors, elevator detectors, sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers in all buildings at the Forest Grove and Hillsboro Campuses. Not all buildings have all of these systems, with the exception of fire extinguishers.

Testing the fire alarm system will include the horn/strobes, smoke detectors, pull stations and door magnets attached to the system. Sprinkler systems are tested separately from fire alarm systems but do not sound the horn/strobes. Fire extinguishers can be checked at the same time as fire and sprinklers or separate depending on what the building has to test. Elevator testing is also separate from the other tests and has been scheduled for Monday June 24 starting at the Hillsboro Campus at 8 a.m. then moving to the Forest Grove Campus.

The Performance System Integration (PSI) technicians will do their best to check in with those that are in the building before sounding the horn/strobes. Per the testing schedule, the horn/strobes will be tested during the following times for these specific buildings only. Others will rely on the technicians checking in with those that are in the buildings:

Marsh / Library / Price: Before 9 a.m. or after 2:30 p.m.

Strain / Murdock Abbott: Before 10 a.m. or after 2 p.m.

Berglund: before 7 a.m. or will check in with the ELC

Jefferson: Between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.

Burlingham / Gilbert: Between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Hillsboro Campus: after 7 p.m.
