Advance Your Career with a Doctor of Science Degree
Interested in advancing your medical career? Consider Pacific's online Doctor of Healthcare Science or Doctor of Medical Science program. If you're a physician assistant, or a health professional, educator or administrator, this is the program for you!
The Doctor of Science (DHSc/DMSc) program is accepting applications for the Spring 2024 cohort through Dec. 1, 2023, and Pacific employees are eligible to apply for an Employee Graduate Tuition Assistance Grant to help with the cost of the program.
Lucia Garcia-Martinez DHSc ’23 is eager to share about her recent experience in the Doctor of Science program. Speaking about Pacific’s mission to help health professionals develop their skills as scholar practitioners and advocates to improve healthcare Garcia-Martinez said, “All of the courses that they teach in the Doctor of Science program tie into social determinants of health. It’s giving us a different lens and other avenues of how we can help the community.”
The Doctor of Science program is unique in that it offers two innovative clinical doctoral degree programs — the Doctor of Healthcare Science (DHSc) and the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc).
The Doctor of Healthcare Science (DHSc) program was developed specifically for the allied health professional (certified/licensed), advanced practice clinician, health profession educator, healthcare administrator/manager or public health professional who has the desire to continue their education as a means of advancing their career within diverse healthcare settings.
The 36-credit curriculum for the DHSc degree is presented primarily asynchronously with limited synchronous instruction on the Moodle® learning management system. The program is four semesters in length.
The Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program was developed specifically for the physician assistant who is certified and actively practicing. All physician assistants who complete the Doctor of Science program will earn a DMSc degree.
The online DMSc program follows the same 36-credit curriculum as the DHSc program and is also four semesters in length.
Please visit the Doctor of Science (DHSc/DMSc) program webpage for more information. If you have any questions about the program, contact Amber Vanzant, program administrator for the School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership.
The application deadline for the Spring 2024 cohort is Dec. 1, 2023.
