School Of Pharmacy Dean Marketa Marvanova Honored By ASCP

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Marketa Marvanova, dean of the Pacific University School of Pharmacy, has received the 2023 Women’s Spotlight Award from the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP).

The award was presented during the organization’s annual awards program on Oct. 26 during the ASCP annual meeting in Kissimmee, Florida.

One of three finalists for the award, the Women’s Spotlight Award recognizes a female pharmacist for outstanding contributions to senior care pharmacy, the mission of ASCP to promote healthy aging and the vision of ASCP to be recognized as experts on medication management. Nominees should have contributed significantly to the ASCP mission and vision of senior care pharmacy practice on a local, regional or national basis.

Marvanova was named dean of the Pacific University School of Pharmacy in July 2022. During her tenure, the university has expanded opportunities for future pharmacists, including the creation of a first-of-its-kind five-year pathway to a pharmacy degree.

Prior to her appointment at Pacific, Marvanova served over two years as dean of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana and also served concurrently as the interim dean of the university’s College of Health. She has also served on the pharmacy faculty at North Dakota State University, Chicago State University, the Rush University Medical Center Department of Neurology, Vanderbilt University and Belmont University.

She is a board-certified psychiatric and geriatric pharmacist and a fellow of the ASCP. Her clinical expertise is in geriatrics and neuropsychiatry and has practiced in a variety of inpatient and outpatient team-based clinical settings.

Marvanova received her PhD in pathological neurochemistry and her PharmD degree from the Charles University School of Pharmacy in the Czech Republic in 2003. She earned an additional PhD in pharmacology and neuropharmacology from the University of Eastern Finland in 2024.
