Experiential Education Rotation Sites
The Office of Experiential Education has an established network of quality practice sites that are dispersed across Oregon and Washington, as well as Hawaii, California, and Alaska. We give student pharmacists the opportunity to preference their preferred geographical location to complete the majority of their IPPE/APPE rotations. However, students should be prepared to (and are expected to) move at least once during their IPPE and APPE rotations.
Students also have the unique opportunity to attend sites that we are not currently affiliated with using the Site Prospector via CORE-ELMS. Students can research and locate a site outside of our pre-set affiliates and provide information to the Office of Experiential Education (OEE). OEE will then reach out and connect with new partners to onboard sites and preceptors. This allows students to not only take full ownership of their rotation preferences, but also allows them to return to their home state if they’re not from the area to save on housing costs. Using the Site Prospector, our program has established many new sites all across the country that future students may benefit from.
Elective Types
Students are able to complete electives in a wide variety of areas such as academia, cardiology, compounding, critical care, drug Information, emergency room, geriatrics, home infusion, infectious disease, long term care, mail order, managed care, nuclear pharmacy, medication therapy, mental health, oncology, pediatrics, research, travel clinic, and veterinary pharmacy.
International/Special Opportunity APPEs
Our students have applied and been accepted to competitive APPE rotations across the country. They have completed rotations at the FDA, CDC, Indian Health Service, pharmaceutical companies, and many more. We support students throughout the application and selection process.
International Opportunities are available in Japan and Belize through pre-arranged partnerships. Please see the international opportunity page for more information
