A 1998 alumnus of Pacific University, Blake Timm was named the university’s associate director of communications in July 2023.

Timm returned to Pacific after spending 24 years in college athletic communications. He served eight years (2015-2023) as the assistant commissioner for communications for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, an NCAA Division II conference based in Portland. 

From 1999 to 2015, Timm was the sports information director at Pacific University. In that role, he was instrumental in the promotion of the reinstatement of football at Pacific in 2010 and the promotion of the Legends Golf Classic, hosted by Tommy Thayer.

Timm was inducted into the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Hall of Fame in 2020. He received the organization’s Bob Kenworthy Community Service Award in 2022 and the Warren Berg Award in 2017.

During his time as Pacific’s sports information director, Timm received over 30 awards in the CSC Publication & Digital Design Contest, including eight “Best In The Nation” honors. He also received 15 Fred Stabley, Sr. Writing Contest awards, including two “Best In The Nation” honors. He was named the recipient of the Jack Sareault Award, honoring the Northwest Conference’s sports information director of the year, in 2007 and 2011.

Timm has been part of media operations teams for multiple world-class athletic events, including the 2022 World Athletics Championships, the Prefontaine Classic, the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Track and Field Championships, the 2014 IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships, the 2008 & 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup and seven NCAA Division I men’s and women’s basketball regionals. Timm was the media coordinator for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's & Women's Soccer Championships, held in Seattle.

Timm’s other experience includes serving as features editor for the Oregon Road Runners Club’s magazine, The Oregon Distance Runner; as news and sports director for KCMB radio in La Grande, Oregon, and as a reporter for KOTI-TV in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Timm remains an active member of CSC, serving as the vice-chair of the organization’s Special Awards Committee. He is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Forest Grove and assistant governor for Rotary District 5100.
