In Memoriam: John "Jack" Loacker

John “Jack” Robert Loacker died Feb. 1, 2020, at age 78. He was a pilot, lawyer, philanthropist, activist and Oregon Air National Guardsman. He was a member of the first class to graduate from Clackamas High School and earned his bachelor’s in graphic design and an MBA at Portland State University, followed by a JD at Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark. He also was a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College and Air War College. He served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard, where he retired as a distinguished and medaled lieutenant colonel. He and his wife shared 29 years together, along with a love for flying, traveling, bird hunting and fly fishing. They became partners in Adelsheim Vineyard in 1994 and owners in 2017. He contributed much time, expertise and funding to charitable endeavors in Oregon, including the DePreist Music Fund at Pacific University.

He is survived by his wife, Carolynn “Lynn” Dixon Loacker; brother James Douglas Loacker; cousin Sarah Lee Davis Transue (and Bill); sister-in-law Katherine Dixon Thomson (and David); brother-in-law John “Rocky” Dixon (and Julie); mother-in-law Suzanne Dixon; six nephews and one niece; and many extended family members.
