In Memoriam: Virginia "Ginny" (Huson) Jackson ’46 and Robert "Bob" Jackson ’46

Virginia “Ginny” (Huson) Jackson ’46 and husband Robert “Bob” Jackson ’46 died Jan. 21, 2022, just hours apart after nearly 75 years of marriage. She was 95; he was 96. Bob attended Hillsboro High School and Pacific University before enlisting in the Navy during World War II. Jackson was deployed aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Cowpens, and flew into the Yokosuka Airfield outside of Tokyo to set up a control tower for U.S. forces before the Japanese surrender occurred. He worked as a mechanic then as a field representative for Birdseye, Hudson House and Nalley’s Fine Foods. He also drove a wrecker and ambulance, was assistant Hillsboro Fire Chief, ran a gun shop, piloted airplanes, hunted and fished. Ginny Jackson was a majorette at Hillsboro High School, attended Pacific briefly and worked at a post office, where the couple met. She was a seamstress, den mother, strawberry field boss, church guild and choir member, and an outstanding homemaker and mother. Ginny Jackson was preceded in death by her brother, Peter.

The couple is survived by three children, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many close friends and family.
