In Memoriam: David Jondrow ’51, OD ’52
David Jondrow ’51, OD ’52 died Oct. 9, 2021, at age 95. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and served during World War II as a signalman. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Montana State University and his doctor of optometry at Pacific. Jondrow married Alma Jean Herminghaus in 1948, and the couple moved to Gladstone, Mich., where Jondrow served as the only optometrist in town until he retired. He was a member of the Gladstone Planning Commission, Gladstone Recreation Board, Gladstone Lion's Club, All Saints Catholic Church Administration Board, and American Optometric Association, as well as state and local professional societies.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Jean; daughter, Mary (and Wayne) Ward; sons Michael Jondrow (and Donna Reber-Jondrow) and James Jondrow (and Ningfang Qian); three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
