Ann Tong PharmD ’21: Pacific University School of Pharmacy Merck Academic Excellence Award
Ann Tong PharmD ’21 is a recipient of Pacific University School of Pharmacy’s Merck Academic Excellence Award. The award honors graduating students who have exhibited excellent scholastic achievement and demonstrated an interest in providing high quality clinical care.
“Ann's commitment to her personal values and priorities for advocacy, advancement of the profession and patient care is admirable,” said nominators. “However, we feel that one of Ann's more notable attributes is her concern for others. While she was able to successfully pursue her own goals, Ann was also very involved in seeking new opportunities for student growth, and sharing her experience with peers to encourage them to act more intentionally.
Tong, who is from Fountain Valley, Calif., graduated in May 2021. She received the Pharmacy’s Merck Academic Excellence Award along with Shannon Hammond Pharm D '21, Anita Hakimi PharmD '21, and Ashley Oropeza PharmD '21.
The School of Pharmacy fosters a learner-centered community that prepares leaders, scholars, and providers to elevate the pharmacy profession and interprofessional patient-focused care, as well as, preparing healthcare professionals for certification and licensure. The school also offers a master of science in pharmaceutical sciences focused on research.
