Kera Akiyama PT ’21 : Pacific University’s Outstanding Service to the Physical Therapy Program

Kera Akiyama PT ’21, who hails from Hilo, Hawai’i, has received a 2021 Outstanding Service to the Physical Therapy Program Award from the Pacific University School of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training. The award is presented to a student who demonstrates meaningful contributions to directly advance the mission and values of the physical therapy program.   

“Kera Akiyama was appointed as a student ambassador, class historian, and social coordinator for our program 2018-2021,” said nominators. “As a stout servant, she also volunteered with Go Baby Go, Night Strike, Physical Therapy Day of Service and the Special Olympics.”

Akiyama is among three May 2021 graduates receiving the award for Outstanding Service to the Physical Therapy Program. Others include Clark Day PT ’21 and Nabil Falconer PT ’21.

The doctor of physical therapy program prepares well-rounded candidates for certification and licensure as healthcare professionals who can deliver person-centered care. Pacific offers a curriculum that is balanced in the areas of orthopedic, neurologic, and general physical therapy with attention to the needs of pediatric patients, geriatric patients, and other special populations.
