James Dowgin OD '21: Drs. Dennis L. Smith & Nada J. Lingel Award for Systemic Disease from the College of Optometry

James Dowgin OD '21 has received the 2021 Drs. Dennis L. Smith & Nada J. Lingel Award for Excellence in Systemic Disease from the Pacific University College of Optometry.

The award recognizes a graduating optometry student who demonstrates excellence in systemic disease courses. Dowgin was also the 2018-2019 recipient of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association Scholarship. He earned his doctor of optometry degree from Pacific in May 2021.

The College of Optometry provides a foundation in basic and clinical sciences, as well as significant hands-on experience in serving diverse populations of patients. Students also are involved in outreach locally and around the world, as they prepare to serve patients anywhere their careers take them. The college offers bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs in vision science, as well as a doctor of optometry degree.
