Morgan Clark ’23 and Emma Graddy ’23 Selected for Leadership Positions

Two of Pacific University's first-year physical therapy students, Morgan Clark ’23 and Emma Graddy ’23, were selected to serve on the APTA-Oregon Student Leadership Committee (SLC). The announcement was made at the recent National Advocacy Dinner. As part of their new positions, Clark and Graddy will attend monthly SLC meetings and collaborate with other committee members to develop events and initiatives to engage doctor of physical therapy students and physical therapy students in Oregon with the APTA. Their service terms are from 2021-2022. 

Emma Graddy ’23, is both the chair and the chief liaison of the Student Leadership Committee. The chief liaison's primary job is to be the link between the SLC and APTA-Oregon. This includes leading monthly meetings, communicating with the chair of the membership committee, designating leads for SLC projects, and representing the SLC at annual APTA-Oregon conferences, workshops, and events.

"I am honored to have been chosen as the Chief Liaison of the Student Leadership Committee, and am looking forward to getting to know the other students in the committee from various programs around Oregon," said Gaddy. "It's such a valuable opportunity to be able to help grow APTA Oregon, foster mentorships between early career pgysical therapists and students, and to create opportunities for students to be more involved in advocacy within their own profession. I am eager to begin and to work alongside such passionate, caring individuals!”

As the Oregon Core Ambassador to the APTA Student Assembly Board of Directors, Morgan Clark ’23, is the liaison between the APTA Student Assembly and the Student Leadership Committee. The core ambassador seeks to help students in the Oregon Chapter get involved with APTA at the national level. Some of the duties of the core ambassador include sending monthly newsletters to students, communicating any news and events from the APTA to the SLC, coordinating national-sponsored events including, the National Advocacy Dinner and APTA Value Talks, and attending monthly core ambassador meetings.

"I am honored to have been selected to serve as Oregon's core ambassador for the upcoming year," said Clark. "After discovering my newfound interest in advocacy and mentorship, I look forward to organizing correspondence between the APTA and physical therapy/ physical therapy assistant students of Oregon, and hoping to shed light on the value of membership. I cannot wait to begin this position alongside passionate, determined colleagues within the Student Leadership Committee and APTA Student Assembly!"
