Mackenzie Van Loo ’17 Featured in Article about Change Agents for PT Profession

In the March issue of APTA Magazine, Eric Reis authored an article titled “Change Agents for the Profession: Spreading the Word.” In the article, Mackenzie Van Loo, DPT ’17, the federal affairs liaison for APTA-Oregon, discusses the power of advocacy. Van Loo shares how she was affected by attending APTA’s Federal Advocacy Forum early in her career.  She learned how her peers were advocating for patients’ interests and better healthcare. Van Loo then joined Oregon’s Government Affairs Committee and succeeded Chris Murphy, PT as federal affairs liaison. In this role, Van Loo serves as the link between our state chapter and APTA’s Government Affairs staff.  She is also responsible for sharing information, maintaining connections with our congressional delegation and working with key contacts who work with lawmakers.
