Rachel Herron Named Chair of Special Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Recent alumna, Dr. Rachel Herron, PT, DPT '20 is the founding chair of the Special Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the American Physical Therapy Association – Washington. The committee's mission is to “Foster a diverse network of physical therapy professionals, who passionately collaborate to dismantle systemic injustices, address health disparities, and support the needs of minority physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, students, patients, and community members.” Furthermore, the committee strives to serve minority physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, students, patients, and community members.
As a student in the physical therapy program, Herron was a founding member of the student-led group The Collective for Diversity and Social Justice. Upon graduating, she received the APTA – Minority Scholarship Award and the Outstanding Graduate Award from Pacific University. The DPT program is proud of the DEI work that Dr. Herron continues as a new professional.
