Deepa Rao Named Full Professor

Deepa Rao has been promoted to full professor in the Pacific University School of Pharmacy.

Deepa Rao completed her bachelor of science in pharmacy at St. John’s University in 1999 from New York and her PhD at the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2008 in the field of pharmaceutics. After a brief post-doctoral stint at University of Wisconsin-Madison, she began her academic life at Drake University and joined Pacific University in 2010. 

In 2015, she was awarded promotion and tenure in the School of Pharmacy at Pacific University. She teaches in the first year of pharmacy curriculum in courses pertaining to pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics. 

Her major research interests lie in utilizing natural products for the treatment of diseases like cancer and obesity, and she has trained PharmD and master’s students in research. She also works in designing and/or evaluating compounded medications in collaboration with pharmacy practice faculty.
