Ian O'Loughlin Granted Tenure
Ian O’Loughlin has been promoted to associate professor of philosophy and granted indefinite tenure by Pacific University.
O’Loughlin specializes in the philosophy of cognitive science. Since earning his PhD from the University of Iowa in 2014, he has published work on human memory, the philosophy of education, the nature of understanding, and theory development in scientific practice. He teaches courses on logic, the philosophy of science, and artificial intelligence to Pacific University undergraduates.
He also directs Pacific's Undergraduate Philosophy Conference each spring, and he sometimes leads students on a travel course to Greece, studying the history of philosophy and theatre.
