College of Health Professions Transitions Update
Dear Faculty and Staff,
In light of the uncertainty regarding the impact on our 2020-21 academic year finances, President Hallick recently announced a temporary hiring freeze until we are confident of our fall enrollment. This hiring freeze will also impact some upper administration transitions that were planned for July 1, 2020. The transition of Dr. Ann Barr-Gillespie into an expanded vice provost for research role will be delayed and Dr. Barr-Gillespie will continue in her role as vice provost and executive dean of the College of Health Professions at least through the fall semester of 2020, at which point we will reassess our operational and financial situations. Consequently, Dr. Mary Von will also continue as director of the School of Physician Assistant Studies, interim director of the School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership, and associate dean of Faculty Affairs.
This decision allows us to maintain continuity in leadership during the COVID-19 response and to reduce planned expenses for 2020-21.
John S. Miller
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
