CETCI Offers Support for Transitioning to Online Teaching
Reach out to the Center for Educational Technology & Curricular Innovation!
As always, we want to encourage you to reach out to us if you need help! Whether you need a quick answer or a big brainstorming session, we’re ready to talk with you. To get in touch with us, you can email us individually: Al Weiss (alweiss@pacificu.edu), Tatiana Piatanova (tapiatanova@pacificu.edu), or Robbie Pock (pockr@pacificu.edu) or simply send a message to edtech@pacificu.edu at any time to set up a Zoom appointment or ask a question.
Checklist for Moving Courses Online
We have put together a checklist for transitioning to online learning to help you think through your teaching strategies and technologies as you move your courses online. You can find the checklist online at CETCI webpages.
We do want to emphasize that the checklist is meant to be generative and is not a mandate. Please don’t feel as if you have to use a technique or tool discussed if it doesn’t work for your course, your teaching style, or the needs of your particular students.
Webinars
We will continue to hold webinars via Zoom that will go over some basic skills and strategies that you can use to develop and teach your online classes. Registration is required.
March 27 | Designing Your Moodle Site for Online Students
March 30 | Teaching with Zoom
March 31 | Introduction to Screencasting
Web Resources
Our Tools and Tips for Online Teaching continues to be updated, so consider bookmarking it and checking back in regularly. If you haven’t bookmarked our Moodle tutorials yet, we recommend you do so that those resources will be handy.
TARGET
We are postponing the submission date for the Teaching Advancement and Research Grant (TARGET). Then new date for submissions is April 24.
Tips for Teaching
Lots of good resources are being shared around online. Here are a few we think are particularly useful:
- ACUE's Online Teaching Toolkit
- The Chronicle of Higher Ed: “Going Online in a Hurry: What to Do and Where to Start”
- Connecticut College's “11 Teaching-Focused Things to Consider when Moving Your Course Online"
