Pharmacy Prof Off to Fast Start

Andrew Bzowyckyj is hitting the ground running, literally.

Bzowyckyj is a new member of the Pacific University School of Pharmacy faculty and specializes in primary care, leadership development and exploring the impact of clinical pharmacist services on health outcomes. 

Bzowyckyj joins the school of pharmacy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy, where he also provided medication management services in the endocrinology and primary care clinics at Truman Medical Centers in downtown Kansas City.  Prior to this he received his PharmD from the University of Connecticut and also completed a 24-month Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Residency with the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. 

At Pacific, he is excited to work with smaller class sizes in an interprofessional environment.  And he will get his chance very quickly as he has already taught in the pharmacotherapeutics courses and practice labs as well as serving as the advisor for Pacific’s APhA-ASP chapter.  

He’s already getting noticed. This month, he was selected by the American Pharmacists Association to receive its 2019 Academy of Pharmacy Practice & Management Distinguished Achievement Award in Service.

In addition to his professional goals Bzowyckyj has a personal goal to run a marathon in each state. “I started this goal when I was a PGY1 resident, and so far have completed 10 marathons in 10 states.”
