Pacific University Website Receives Award, Other Recognition
A year after launching the first version of the redesigned and restructured website, analytics aren’t the only measure of success.
Website Team Receives CASE Silver Award, selected as Presenters
In recognition of institutional excellence in marketing and communications, Pacific University's institutional website was a winning entry in the 2019 CASE District VII Communications awards, receiving a silver award in the Electronic & Digital Media: Overall Website category.
University staff members Jenni Luckett, Alex Bell, Kallen Kentner and Ryan Wetherill are the award recipients and comprised the core team responsible for the website restructure and redesign project. Launched in October 2017, the project was completed entirely in-house on a tight five-month timeline, saving the university over $92,000 dollars.
CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) District VIII is comprised of 152 member institutions in western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. Award winners are recognized at the 2019 CASE Conference, held in Vancouver, BC.
Kallen Kentner, Web Coordinator and Alex Bell, Graphic Designer, attended the conference and were also selected as presenters.
Their presentation, "Ready, Set, Launch! Save Thousands on a New Website by Harnessing Staff Talent" uses the project as a powerful case study of how to harness existing staff talent to complete large projects with limited resources. It explores the advantages and limitations of the approach and provides inspiration for creative ways to apply staff expertise.
Redesign Process Featured by Adobe, Inc
The Pacific University website was also featured by Adobe (the software company known for Photoshop, Creative Cloud and more) for the use of Adobe XD to build prototypes. Website design lead for the project, Alex Bell, was interviewed for the article, "Pacific University Uses Adobe XD to Redesign its Website for a Mobile-First World."
Adobe XD was crucial in allowing the web team to share prototypes and receive instant feedback from the university community during the design phase of the website redesign project.
