Kelly Carlos-Freeman MAT '17 and Fabiola Gavina Zavala '17 write children's book

Kelly Carlos-Freeman MAT '17 and Fabiola Gavina Zavala '17 co-authored and presented their children's book, Day of the Dead, at Washington Elementary School in Woodburn, Ore. “The book celebrates our Aztec tradition of Dia de los Muertos and features Spanglish humor,” Freeman noted.

Published by Red Road Books, the alumni held additional readings at Pacific’s Woodburn campus, the Tualatin (Ore.) Public Library, and the Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg, Ore. Freeman is a teacher in the Canby (Ore.) School District, and Zavala teaches fourth-grade at Washington Elementary School.
